About the Role
The Payroll Assistant will lead and direct routine functions of the Human Resources department, including hiring and interviewing staff. Responsibilities include employment policies and procedures, overseeing payroll, managing workplace safety initiatives, finding, screening, recruiting new job applicants, and developing training and development programs.
This role involves office operations and workflow management, as well as compliance issues related to business operations. Tasks include managing company staff, coordinating recruitment, payroll processing, onboarding and offboarding, keeping abreast of labor legislation, and providing support systems for payroll requirements.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for this role include effective human resources management, timely payroll processing, and maintaining a safe working environment. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in human resources management or equivalent
- 2-3 years of experience in outsourcing and/or human resources or related field
- Experience in conflict resolution, disciplinary processes, and workplace investigations
- Able to interpret Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements in relation to pay rates
