Senior Mechanical Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our national water business. This is a key leadership position responsible for delivering complex engineering solutions in the water sector.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will have extensive experience in mechanical design, commissioning and operations, and troubleshooting across large-scale water and wastewater infrastructure projects. You will also have a proven track record in leading teams through all project phases from planning and options development through concept and detailed design.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in all aspects of treatment plant and pumping station design including equipment selection and specification, process optimisation, construction support, and implementation of robust risk management practices aligned with WHS requirements and industry standards.

You will work closely with bid teams to ensure alignment of mechanical design during tender phases, collaborate with procurement teams to define scopes, engage vendors, and coordinate equipment selection. You will also build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders acting as a key technical liaison to present solutions confidently and ensure stakeholder satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership during project delivery including oversight of mechanical design intent, equipment selection and installation practices.
  • Collaborate with bid teams to ensure alignment of mechanical design during tender phases review technical documentation refine cost estimates and develop competitive proposals.
  • Work closely with procurement teams to define scopes engage vendors and coordinate equipment selection.
  • Build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders acting as a key technical liaison to present solutions confidently and ensure stakeholder satisfaction.

Requirements

To be successful in this role you will need to have:

  • Extensive experience delivering complex engineering solutions in the water sector.
  • Proven track record in mechanical design commissioning and operations and troubleshooting across large-scale water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Strong technical expertise in all aspects of treatment plant and pumping station design.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to lead teams and manage client relationships.
