Senior Mechanical Engineer Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our national water business, located in either Sydney or Newcastle. This is a unique opportunity for you to leverage your technical expertise and leadership skills to deliver complex engineering solutions in the water sector.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will have extensive experience delivering large-scale water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including treatment plants and pump stations. You will be responsible for providing technical leadership during project delivery, collaborating with bid teams, working closely with procurement teams, building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical oversight of mechanical design intent, equipment selection, and installation practices.
  • Collaborate with bid teams to ensure alignment of mechanical design during tender phases.
  • Work closely with procurement teams to define scopes, engage vendors, and coordinate equipment selection.
  • Build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Proven leadership in mechanical design for water or wastewater treatment projects.
  • Strong communication skills and stakeholder engagement experience.
  • Familiarity with digital engineering platforms (such as BIM/Revit).
  • The ability to deliver under pressure.
