About the Role

The National Industrial Relations Advisor will play a critical role in enhancing the knowledge, competency, and success of MSS Security Pty Ltd through the provision of expert support and advice on industrial relations matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic and 'people-centred' advice and guidance on complex or high-risk employee matters, including misconduct, performance management, company policies and procedures, enterprise agreement negotiations, contractual issues, industrial relations, termination of employment, and other legal requirements.
  • Monitor external trends, case law, and regulatory changes for continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.
  • Advise on and guide the People and Culture team with the implementation of IR strategies to enhance leadership, technical expertise, and business management capability within the workforce.
  • Support knowledge and capability building for the wider People and Culture team and leaders on relevant IR topics by translating legislative cases to deliver key learnings of practical value to the business.
  • Develop and maintain policies, procedures, templates, and guides for use by the People and Culture team, including enterprise agreement negotiations, offer letters, workplace investigations, performance management, termination of employment, and more.
  • Manage and advise on potential or actual external claims and other litigated people matters, including Fair Work Commission and other regulatory bodies claims.
  • Assist the Head of People & Culture in developing and implementing IR initiatives and programs aligned with business strategies.
  • Deliver strategies on an initiative-taking basis to identify IR gaps with probable solutions.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience with complex case management, workplace relations, and employment law.
  • Solid understanding of compliance practices, including the Fair Work Act and other relevant employment/industrial laws.
  • Tertiary qualifications in human resources, employment law, industrial relations, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and negotiate with senior stakeholders on employee matters.
  • Strong customer service skills with excellent attention to detail and administration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and/or projects, with exceptional written and verbal communications skills.
  • Full Australian working rights and willingness to undergo a National Police check.
