About Ethos Urban

Ethos Urban is a multi-disciplinary business that brings together planning, urban design, property economics, social strategy, community engagement, and project management to deliver better solutions to complex problems and achieve better urban outcomes for our community.

We focus on creating engaging places that connect us to where we need to go, meet our changing needs, and create opportunities for everyone to thrive. Our team of professionals is passionate about planning and development, and we're looking to grow that team by adding new like-minded individuals.

Our Work

We undertake extensive work in both statutory and strategic planning, covering all sectors including residential, commercial, retail, tourism, health, education, industry, and infrastructure. Our team has the opportunity to explore their passions in planning and development and shape the career they want for themselves.

The Role

We are seeking a Principal-Planner to join our highly engaged team of urban development professionals. This role will suit a dynamic and passionate individual looking to take the next step in their professional career.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead moderate to large-scale projects as a Project Manager and provide oversight of multiple projects while developing the skills of others.
  • Invest in long-term relationships with clients, improve the overall client experience, and generate repeat business.
  • Work collaboratively across a wide range of projects and services within the organisation's diversified portfolios as part of multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Liaise regularly with clients, understand their needs, deliver high-quality work, and manage small to large projects.
  • Further develop consultancy and project management capabilities and enhance the ability to work with relevant policy and legislation.
Requirements
  • A Tertiary qualification in Planning or a related degree/discipline.
  • 5 to 8+ years of urban planning experience within a professional services firm or state/local government.
  • Well-developed organisational and time management skills, with a flexible and positive attitude to working on a range of different projects concurrently.
  • Sound working knowledge of the NSW planning framework.
  • Well-versed communication skills, and the ability to build rapport with clients and other project team members.
  • Excellent writing skills, who can draft efficiently, write accurate and comprehensive reports, and prepare external correspondence.
Why Work with Us?

We view each project as a complex puzzle that requires different perspectives and alternative angles to solve it. At Ethos Urban, no one individual ever has the answer. It's only when we bring people with different specialisations from different teams that we can see the full picture and then the way forward. We call it collective intelligence.

We continue to hire great people with a diversity of skills, experience, and backgrounds. This includes people with disability, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people identifying as LGBTIQ+, culturally and linguistically diverse people, carers, and other diversity groups. We encourage applicants from any background to apply to join Ethos Urban.

We back our people: We are proponents of flexible work, provide generous leave provisions, 18 weeks paid parental leave, paid study leave, and access to transitional coaching. In addition, we cover industry memberships, provide access to an array of great learning and personal development initiatives, and incredible career pathways.

We have adopted the globally recognised United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as our ESG framework. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is a clearly defined pathway to improving our world, and how business can align its goals and actions to help us all collectively get there.
