About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Aboriginal Children's Health and Wellbeing Liaison Officer to join our team at Echuca Regional Health. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in supporting the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal children and their families in our region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with our team to provide culturally sensitive and accessible health services to Aboriginal children and their families.
  • Liaise with local health services and community organizations to ensure seamless referrals and care coordination.
  • Promote health education and awareness among Aboriginal communities, focusing on preventative care and early intervention.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with local Aboriginal leaders, community groups, and stakeholders to ensure cultural safety and awareness.
  • Represent Echuca Regional Health at community events and meetings, promoting our services and building partnerships.
  • Advocate for the health and wellbeing needs of Aboriginal children and their families, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights are respected.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, clients, and community members, using clear and respectful language.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of culturally responsive health programs and services.
Key Selection Criteria
  • Experience working in a similar role, preferably in a community outreach or liaison capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of Aboriginal health issues, cultural protocols, and community needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with Aboriginal communities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to cultural safety and awareness.
  • Knowledge of local health services, community organizations, and government initiatives that impact Aboriginal health.
