About the Role

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced School Psychologist to join our team at NSW School Administrative and Support. As a School Psychologist, you will play a critical role in providing counselling and psychological services to students, individually and in groups, to support their social, emotional, and academic development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide evidence-based counselling and psychological services to students, including short-term therapeutic interventions, to address their mental health needs.
  • Engage with and implement the procedures of the Professional Practice Framework for the NSW School Counselling Service.
  • Work collaboratively with school executives, staff, and student support services to improve student learning and wellbeing outcomes and implement current departmental priorities.
  • Contribute to the social, emotional, and academic development of students, and support schools and students with complex behavioural needs.
  • Administer cognitive, social, emotional, and behavioural assessments of students, report on the results of assessments and interventions, and collaborate to improve learning, wellbeing, and mental health outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with learning and support teams, parents, and carers, and other agencies, to develop appropriate school-based support for students.
  • Respond as part of a team to assist schools experiencing serious incidents.
  • Refer students and/or their families and carers to other agencies that will support the development of student health and wellbeing outcomes.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
  • General or Provisional Psychology Registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
  • Valid and current Working with Children Check clearance.
  • Current and valid driver's licence and ability and willingness to travel between work sites.
  • Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
