
Rural Community Mental Health Support Specialist

**Job Overview:**
The Rural Adversity Mental Health Program Coordinator plays a pivotal role in addressing the mental health needs of rural communities. This position is responsible for raising awareness and developing pathways to care for individuals experiencing or at risk of mental illness.
About the Role:
- To identify and support communities and individuals affected by rural adversity, with a focus on mental health and wellbeing.
- To provide information and education services to targeted agencies and services, building their capacity to respond and refer to appropriate mental health services.
- To work collaboratively with mental health teams, clinicians, and community networks to improve mental health referral processes.
- To connect patients, families, and carers with necessary mental health resources and support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Raise awareness of rural adversity and its impact on mental health.
- Develop and implement strategies to address mental health needs in rural communities.
- Provide education and training to targeted agencies and services.
- Collaborate with mental health teams and community networks to improve referral processes.
- Support patients, families, and carers to access mental health resources.
Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in health, welfare, health promotion, or community development related field.
- High level of mental health literacy and ability to discuss mental health issues.
- Sound understanding of rural and agricultural issues affecting mental wellbeing.
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to travel for work purposes and hold a current Class C driver's license.
