Rural Mental Health Program Coordinator Opportunity

This role presents an exceptional chance to contribute to rural mental health initiatives, working closely with a dedicated team focused on patient-centric care.

  • Raise awareness about mental health needs in rural communities and establish pathways for individuals experiencing or at risk of developing signs and symptoms of mental illness or distress.
  • Provide mental health information and services to the community and targeted individuals to facilitate recognition of when extra support is needed.
  • Educate rural agencies and services to enhance their capacity to respond and refer to appropriate services.
  • Collaborate with mental health teams and clinicians to improve referral processes.
  • Support patients, families, and carers by providing them with the necessary information to maintain their own mental health.
Key Qualifications:
  • Tertiary qualifications in health, welfare, health promotion, or community development related fields (or equivalent experience).
  • Mental health literacy and ability to discuss mental health issues with various people.
  • Understanding of rural and agricultural issues and their impact on mental wellbeing.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to negotiate, influence, and develop relationships.
  • Organizational skills and proficiency in Microsoft computer applications.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes of conduct and commitment to upholding them.
  • Ability to travel for work purposes and hold a current driver's license.
