- Raise awareness about mental health needs in rural communities and establish pathways for individuals experiencing or at risk of developing signs and symptoms of mental illness or distress.
- Provide mental health information and services to the community and targeted individuals to facilitate recognition of when extra support is needed.
- Educate rural agencies and services to enhance their capacity to respond and refer to appropriate services.
- Collaborate with mental health teams and clinicians to improve referral processes.
- Support patients, families, and carers by providing them with the necessary information to maintain their own mental health.
- Tertiary qualifications in health, welfare, health promotion, or community development related fields (or equivalent experience).
- Mental health literacy and ability to discuss mental health issues with various people.
- Understanding of rural and agricultural issues and their impact on mental wellbeing.
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to negotiate, influence, and develop relationships.
- Organizational skills and proficiency in Microsoft computer applications.
- Knowledge of relevant codes of conduct and commitment to upholding them.
- Ability to travel for work purposes and hold a current driver's license.
