About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ombudsman to join our team at AFCA. As a key member of our Investments and Advice (I&A) decision-making team, you will play a critical role in resolving disputes and achieving fair outcomes for our customers.

The successful candidate will have a strong track record of achievement in the financial services sector, with a focus on dispute resolution and a deep understanding of the I&A industry. You will be responsible for making decisions on standard and complex disputes, working collaboratively with our team to achieve fair and timely outcomes.

About You
  • Legal qualifications and a significant track record of achievement at senior executive level within the financial planning, stockbroking, managed fund, cryptocurrency or derivatives industries
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to quickly get to the heart of complex issues and efficiently handle a busy caseload
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts in simple terms
  • Ability to coach and mentor junior staff, with a focus on developing their skills and expertise
  • Resilience, focus, determination, and excellent engagement skills, with the ability to effectively manage challenges and external criticism
