About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ombudsman to join our Investments and Advice (I&A) decision-making team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in resolving standard and complex disputes in accordance with our rules and fairness principles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Make decisions, individually or as part of a panel, on standard and complex disputes
  • Provide professional and technical leadership across AFCA
  • Coach and mentor case workers and others
  • Develop AFCA approaches and present at external conferences as a subject matter expert
  • Support AFCA's relationships with consumer groups, government bodies, regulators, AFCA members, member organisations, other Ombudsman networks, and the media
Requirements
  • Legal qualifications and a significant track record of achievement at senior executive level within the financial planning, stockbroking, managed fund, cryptocurrency, or derivatives industries
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to quickly get to the heart of complex issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to convey complex concepts in simple terms
  • Resilience, focus, determination, and excellent engagement skills
