About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Policy Manager to lead our data governance function. This is a senior management role that will play a critical part in shaping our data strategy and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Job Description

This is a full-time position offering up to $150,000 per annum + 11.5% superannuation. Reporting to the Chief Data and Insights Officer, the Senior Data Policy Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing a robust data governance framework to ensure data quality, risk management, integrity, and security across the organization.

The successful candidate will have experience leading a team through change and achieving high performance and a positive organizational culture. A relevant tertiary degree and/or postgraduate qualifications is desirable, as well as knowledge of data governance frameworks and methodologies (DAMA/DCAM).

This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with teams such as Technology, Risk, Operations, and Science to establish and enforce data governance policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate will also have prior experience with Azure, Databricks, and cloud-based data governance tools (e.g., Informatica, Alation, Collibra). Proven ability to apply relevant government legislation, regulations, reporting directives, and procedures to achieve optimal organizational outcomes is essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a data governance framework to ensure data quality, risk management, integrity, and security.
  • Create and implement a data ownership model, including the establishment of data domains.
  • Establish and administer divisional and executive data governance forums.
  • Collaborate with teams to establish and enforce data governance policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with other unit managers to assess and provide guidance on the governance of data products.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to enhance data literacy throughout the organization.
  • Provide guidance on best data practices and work closely with the Data Architect to implement data governance tools.
  • Lead and manage the Governance team to achieve high standards of performance, accountability, collaboration, ethics, and integrity.
Requirements

To succeed in this position, you will need:

  • A relevant tertiary degree and/or postgraduate qualifications.
  • Proven leadership experience in a senior management role, leading a business unit or enterprise through change to achieve high performance and a positive organizational culture.
  • Leadership experience in leading a data governance function.
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks and methodologies (DAMA/DCAM).
  • Prior experience with Azure, Databricks, and cloud-based data governance tools (e.g., Informatica, Alation, Collibra).
  • Proven ability to apply relevant government legislation, regulations, reporting directives, and procedures to achieve optimal organizational outcomes.
