About This Role

This senior management position reports to the Chief Data and Insights Officer and is responsible for setting up and administering a data governance framework for data products. The successful candidate will lead a team in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and guidelines for data quality, risk management, privacy, ethics, and literacy.

Main Responsibilities
  • Data Governance Framework Development: Design and implement a comprehensive data governance framework to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Team Leadership: Manage a team of professionals to achieve high standards of performance, accountability, collaboration, ethics, and integrity.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with teams such as Technology, Risk, Operations, and Science to establish and enforce data governance policies and procedures.
  • Data Ownership and Domains: Establish a data ownership model, including the creation of data domains, to govern data products across the organization.
  • Training and Development: Develop and deliver training programs to enhance data literacy throughout the organization.
  • Best Practices and Tools: Provide guidance on best data practices and work closely with the Data Architect to implement data governance tools.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • A relevant tertiary degree and/or postgraduate qualifications.
  • A proven record of achievement in a senior management role leading a business unit/enterprise through change to achieve high performance and a positive organizational culture.
  • Leadership experience and a record of achievement in leading a data governance function.
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks and methodologies (DAMA/DCAM).
  • Prior experience with Azure, Databricks, and cloud-based data governance tools (e.g., Informatica, Alation, Collibra) is advantageous.
  • Proven ability to apply relevant government legislation, regulations, reporting directives, and procedures to achieve optimal organizational outcomes.
