About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Safety Specialist to join our team at Holcim, a global leader in innovative and sustainable building solutions. As a Senior Safety Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of our employees, contractors, and customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate and Model a Safety Leadership Style: Demonstrate a strong commitment to health and safety by facilitating and modeling a safety leadership style that prioritizes the well-being of all stakeholders.
  • Maintain Knowledge of Safety Legislation and Trends: Stay up-to-date with relevant safety and health legislation, trends, and new initiatives impacting the business.
  • Conduct Site Audits and Investigations: Conduct site audits against Holcim Australia safety systems and other appropriate standards, and lead incident investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor and Report on Safety Performance: Monitor, measure, track, and report on corrective actions from risk assessments, investigations, and audits to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Identify Opportunities for Simplification: Identify opportunities to simplify safety systems and processes without compromising our zeroHarm goal.
  • Support Line Management: Assist line management with safety incident investigations and tracking of corrective measures, and support them in identifying, assessing, controlling, and reviewing health and safety hazards.
Requirements
  • Relevant Qualification and/or Experience: Possess a relevant qualification and/or a commensurate level of experience in safety leadership roles within high-risk environments.
  • Previous Experience in Safety Leadership: Have previous experience in conducting safety inspections, audits, and leading incident investigations.
  • Current Knowledge of OH&S Legislation: Possess current knowledge of OH&S legislation and practices.
  • Familiarity with Health & Safety Record-Keeping Systems: Be familiar with Health & Safety record-keeping systems.
  • Demonstrated Ability to Drive a Zero-Harm Culture: Demonstrate a strong ability to drive and promote a zero-harm culture.
  • Strong Interpersonal and Influencing Skills: Possess strong interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Intermediate Proficiency in Google Suite: Have intermediate proficiency in Google Suite.
