Safety and Compliance Specialist

Wallenius Wilhelmsen is seeking a highly skilled Safety and Compliance Specialist to join our team in the Oceania region. As a key member of our Safety, Quality, and Sustainability team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of our employees, customers, and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Implement Health and Safety Plans: Create and execute comprehensive health and safety plans that align with internal and external policies and guidelines.
- Establish a Culture of Health and Safety: Prepare and implement policies to promote a culture of health and safety throughout the organization.
- Evaluate and Assess Risk: Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Monitor Compliance: Inspect and audit employees and operations to ensure compliance with health and safety policies and laws.
- Recommend Solutions: Identify areas for improvement and recommend solutions to issues, opportunities, or new prevention measures.
- Education and Training: Provide education and training to employees on health and safety matters and accident prevention.
- Audit and Investigation: Conduct audits and investigations to identify causes of accidents or incidents and develop actionable measures to prevent their reoccurrence.
- Reporting and Communication: Report on health and safety awareness, issues, and statistics to stakeholders.
- Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety: Possess a qualification in occupational health and safety, such as a Certificate IV in Workplace Safety.
- Experience in Shipping or Logistics: Have experience in the shipping, logistics, or maritime industry, or a similar field.
- Valid Driver's License: Hold a valid driver's license.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 9001: Have knowledge of ISO 14001 Environment management systems and ISO 9001 Quality management systems.
- Cert IV Training and Assessment: Possess a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
- Experience in a Blue-Collar Environment: Have experience working in a blue-collar environment.
- Documentation and Training Experience: Have experience in developing documentation, policies, procedures, SOPs, and training material.
