Job Description

Job Title: Principal Environmental Triage Officer

Job Summary:

The Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Environmental Triage Officer to join our team. As a key member of our Native Vegetation, Mine Closure and Environmental Services Branch, you will play a vital role in providing technical advice to industry, assessment officers, and other stakeholders on environmental assessment and regulatory management in the resources sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical advice to industry, assessment officers, and other stakeholders on environmental assessment and regulatory management in the resources sector.
  • Set priorities for State significant assessments and drive regulatory improvements.
  • Develop effective working relationships with key stakeholders and promote community awareness of relevant environmental policies and guidance.
  • Liaise with companies, industry organisations, and other government agencies to coordinate assessments and drive regulatory improvements.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated significant knowledge of and experience in environmental assessment and regulatory management in the resources sector.
  • Demonstrated significant knowledge of the environmental regulatory frameworks that apply to native vegetation clearing in Western Australia's resources sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve complex environmental regulatory problems and offer appropriate solutions.

Education: A Bachelor of Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management Degree or an approved equivalent scientific degree is required.
