About Our Defence Team
Our focus is on utilizing Telstra's expertise to provide secure, independent connectivity solutions for our Enterprise and Government Defence clients.

Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Security Engineer Lead, you will oversee a team responsible for managing a diverse range of platforms across multiple environments (development, testing, and production). Your role will involve ensuring the smooth operation of these tools to support internal teams, including security analysts and network operations, while also driving new initiatives for our clients.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Leading a team dedicated to delivering initiatives and managing security platforms for a major Telstra client.
  • Collaborating closely with security operations, architecture, and other teams within Telstra and the client.
  • Managing vendor relationships for support and future planning.
  • Contributing to a roadmap for upgrades and new tools for the client.
  • Engaging with various stakeholders to communicate the benefits of chosen security solutions.
  • Mentoring junior team members.
  • Maintaining comprehensive documentation and encouraging others to do the same.
  • Ensuring stakeholder involvement in decision-making processes and documenting outcomes.

Candidate Profile
To be considered for this role, you should possess:

  • An active Baseline level clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain Negative Vetting 2 clearance.
  • Technical university qualifications relevant to the position or a minimum of three years of pertinent experience.
  • Capability to support and manage ICT security functions to meet contractual obligations.
  • Strong team management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Experience in managing vendor and customer relationships.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and conflicting priorities effectively.
  • A proactive approach with a proven ability to work independently.
