Job Description

Role Summary

The Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) is seeking a highly skilled Cyber Security Operations Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Cyber Security Operations Centre, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and leadership in threat-driven cyber security monitoring and response capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise in cyber security operations, with a focus on threat-driven monitoring and response.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the Security Operations Centre, providing current advice on emerging threat intelligence and applying technical skills to enable effective SOC operations and continuous improvement.
  • Develop strategies to detect and mitigate current and emerging cyber security threats, working closely with internal stakeholders, managed service providers, and domestic and international partners.
  • Oversee and lead Threat Hunt and Incident Response activities, including coordination across teams and departments, and required pre- and post-activity governance.
  • Ensure effective application of monitoring and response capabilities by working with the Engineering team to design and deliver technical solutions.
  • Work with stakeholders across ASIO to implement and improve cyber security monitoring requirements, fostering and developing relationships to enhance ASIO's information technology security posture and capabilities.

Requirements

  • Experience working in a cyber security operations centre, with a strong understanding of security tooling such as Security Information and Event Monitoring (SIEM) tools.
  • Relevant qualifications within cyber security, such as SANS GIAC certifications, CISSIP, CISM.
  • Strong knowledge of security frameworks, standards, and technologies, with excellent collaboration skills and demonstrated ability to lead delivery outcomes.
  • Strong security awareness and risk management skills, with the ability to work closely with stakeholders, including internal technology teams, external managed service providers, and domestic and international partners.
