Food Safety and Quality Assurance Leadership Role

This leadership position oversees the food safety and quality systems at a multifaceted further processing site. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, customer standards, and internal quality systems.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in people management, customer relationships, and risk-based decision making. They should possess excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to influence and develop others.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and coordinate activities to ensure food safety and quality outcomes are met
  • Ensure data integrity and presentation
  • Lead, coach, and nurture the Food Safety and Quality team
  • Promote a strong food safety culture and implement corporate expectations
  • Assess and communicate risks in food safety and quality
  • Minimise and mitigate risk through risk-based decision making and analysis
  • Implement Continuous Improvement Initiatives and support Change Management
  • Ensure working knowledge and implementation of the Food Safety and Quality Management System
  • Coordinate and sign off on customer/consumer complaints
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualification in Food Science or Biotechnology
  • Excellent working knowledge of HACCP and Quality/Risk Management Programmes
  • Extensive industry experience, preferably in animal protein
  • Understanding of supplier raw material performance and its impact on outcomes
  • Ability to develop and maintain food safety and quality systems
  • People management and leadership experience at senior level
  • Data analysis and presentation skills
  • Commercial acumen and business understanding
