To ensure timely and accurate reporting in accordance with internal and regulatory deadlines, we seek a skilled Reporting Operations Specialist to join our External Reporting Team.
Your Key Responsibilities- Lead the coordination of tasks within the External Reporting Team to ensure seamless delivery against deadlines.
- Provide technical support, including researching new accounting standards and regulatory changes, to ensure compliance with APRA and RBNZ requirements.
- Review and approve tasks completed by team members, including journals, to maintain accuracy and quality.
- Collaborate with the External Reporting Team to review quarterly and annual APRA and RBNZ returns.
- Prepare quarterly Enterprise Risk Reports and Board Papers, ensuring meaningful and accurate commentary.
- Deliver Board documents to the Company Secretary according to meeting agendas.
- Review annual financial statements and half-year accounts for NZ.
- Sign-off on Blackline reconciliations approved by the team.
- Oversee investment accounting and transfers of excess cash to/from the investment portfolio, addressing any arising issues.
- Coordinate IFRS17 reporting with local, regional, and central teams, monitoring system feeds to Peoplesoft, Aptitude, and actuarial feeds.
- Ensure the efficient completion of external audits by coordinating with the audit team and providing necessary information.
- Fulfill requests from external auditors as required.
- Coordinate annual capital plans, reviewing output, and preparing narrative for meetings with the CFO and Regional office.
- Provide mentoring and training to team members as needed, conducting fortnightly one-on-ones, mid-year, and annual performance reviews.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, utilizing tools like Alteryx, to enhance processes and productivity.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in Accounting within an Insurance Environment.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in managing a team.
- CA or CPA qualification.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Proven attention to detail and effective time management skills.
- External reporting experience preferred.
- Knowledge of IFRS17 reporting highly desired.
$120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits and opportunities for growth and development in a dynamic organization.
