About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Payment Operations Lead Specialist to join our team at Shift, a company dedicated to helping Australian SMEs manage their cash flow and financial operations.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape the newly established Payment's function within our organisation and play a key role in defining and communicating the needs and priorities of Payments Operations.

The successful candidate will be accountable for executing operational risk controls, ensuring compliance with industry SLAs, and maintaining a well-governed process directory to enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities
  • Change Management: Own and enforce effective change management for all payments-related processes, including financial crime prevention, integrity validations, and reporting.
  • Process Governance: Maintain a well-governed process directory to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with payments industry SLAs.
  • AML/CTF Reporting: Ensure adherence to AML/CTF reporting obligations.
  • Risk Management: Accountable for the execution of operational risk controls.
  • Manual Payments: Oversee the timely execution of manual payments processes.
  • End-of-Day Processes: Ensure accuracy in end-of-day processes and confirmation of payment settlements.
  • Incident Resolution: Resolve or escalate payments-related incidents in collaboration with the Payments Delivery Team.
Requirements
  • A business or finance degree is beneficial but not essential.
Key Skills and Qualifications
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ability to implement and oversee operational controls, ensuring strict adherence to standards, with a particular focus on regulatory requirements such as AML/CTF and compliance with industry guidelines.
  • Incident Assessment and Resolution: Skilled in quickly assessing incidents, applying structured problem-solving techniques, and escalating issues effectively when required.
  • Change Communication: Proficient in communicating process changes with clarity, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal operational impact, with a focus on accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to establish robust controls to ensure accuracy in all operational processes.
What We Offer

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with the Payments Delivery Team to help define and communicate the needs and priorities of Payments Operations, establishing a strong foundation for this function.

Based on the market average salary for a similar position in Sydney, Australia, we estimate the salary for this role to be around $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience.
