Job Summary: We are seeking a Child Trauma Therapist to provide trauma-informed therapeutic interventions and counselling to children and young people affected by domestic and family violence.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide trauma-informed therapeutic interventions and counselling to children and young people affected by domestic and family violence, taking into account the complexities of working with vulnerable populations.
- Support carers of child witnesses through advocacy and information sharing, ensuring they receive the support and resources needed to cope with their own experiences.
- Engage in safety planning and crisis response as part of an integrated DFV model, prioritizing the well-being and safety of clients at all times.
- Coordinate with police and other services through embedded response work, fostering collaborative relationships that enhance service delivery.
- Facilitate community education and stakeholder engagement in the region, promoting awareness and understanding of complex issues affecting local communities.
- Maintain accurate client records, reports, and data entries, adhering to confidentiality and privacy guidelines.
- Provide occasional leave relief across Cairns, Atherton, Mossman, and court settings, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in response to changing needs.
About You:
- You will hold a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, or a related field, equipping you with theoretical foundations and practical skills for this role.
- Have experience working with children and young people in a therapeutic context, allowing you to understand the nuances of working with this population.
- Be values-aligned, self-reflective, and understand the realities of doing this work, ensuring a deep commitment to supporting clients and colleagues alike.
