Child Abuse Support Specialist

Join a community-based not-for-profit organisation dedicated to creating justice and responding to injustice. We believe every child and adult has the right to a home, income, healthcare, education, safety, dignity, and connection with their community.

This role focuses on delivering trauma-informed support to individuals who have experienced childhood abuse, including counselling, advocacy, and pathways navigation.

The position involves working closely with the Redress Team to ensure participants receive the support they need to address the lifelong impacts of childhood institutional abuse.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver trauma-informed support to survivors of childhood abuse.
  • Provide administrative support to the Lotus Support Services team, ensuring timely contact with s24 applicants within 5 business days of referral.
Requirements:
  • A Human Services certificate, diploma or tertiary qualification and extensive experience, or a combination of experience, expertise, and competence.
  • Ability to articulate a framework for practice in working with people who have experienced abuse.
  • Understanding of the lifetime impacts of childhood sexual abuse in institutional settings, including out-of-home care.
  • Ability to advocate with systems on behalf of vulnerable members of the community to access appropriate support.
