Job Opportunity
We are seeking a culturally competent and experienced case manager to support First Nations women and families impacted by domestic and family violence.
About the Role:
- Providing trauma-informed case management and brief counselling services to women and children.
- Supporting referrals to housing, health, legal, and social services that cater to the needs of Indigenous communities.
- Facilitating group healing sessions and yarning circles that promote cultural understanding and empowerment.
- Developing individual care plans grounded in self-determination and cultural protocols that respect the autonomy of women and their families.
- Participating in community engagement, interagency networks, and cultural supervision to ensure best practice.
- Advocating for women's rights and dignity within a culturally safe and supportive environment.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with women and families experiencing crisis and trauma, providing support and navigation through complex service systems.
- Build trust with First Nations women and families through culturally respectful communication and active listening.
- Develop strong relationships with community service providers and advocate for women's access to resources and services.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in trauma-informed practice and cultural competency.
Requirements:
- Cultural Safety & Lived Experience: Ability to practice with deep cultural understanding and respect, lived experience and cultural authority.
- Trauma-Informed Case Management: Experience providing support through a trauma-informed lens, capacity to co-develop care plans with self-determination.
- Strong Communication & Trust-Building: Ability to build trust with First Nations women and families, culturally respectful verbal and non-verbal communication.
- Referral and Advocacy Skills: Knowledge of housing, legal, health, and support service pathways, experience advocating for clients in culturally unsafe systems.
- Group Facilitation & Healing Practice: Confidence in facilitating yarning circles and healing groups, understanding of community-based healing models.
