Job Summary

This role is for a caring and compassionate individual who can work with people experiencing homelessness.

We are seeking an experienced Housing/Shelter Support Worker to join our team in Victoria, Australia.

The successful candidate will work directly with clients to identify their problems, needs, and risks. They will provide individual counseling sessions using active listening and conflict resolution techniques.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Conduct wellness checks
  • Participate in the set-up of shelter upon arrival
  • Distribute harm reduction supplies
  • Assist residents with daily activities such as room cleans and meal preparation
  • Develop and implement short-term intervention plans
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of these plans and report on client progress

Requirements:

  • A diploma in a related human/social service field
  • At least one year of recent experience in a similar role
  • Training in non-violent crisis intervention techniques and harm reduction approaches
  • Knowledge of community resources
