The role of Housing/Shelter Support Worker is to provide support and services to residents and shelter users. This includes identifying clients' problems, needs and risks, and planning and conducting individual counselling sessions.
The successful candidate will work directly with residents and shelter users to develop rapport and trusting relationships. They will assist with the development and delivery of resident support plans, and participate in the set-up and clean-up of shelter facilities.
Other duties include distributing harm reduction supplies, performing wellness checks, and providing emergency first aid. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of crisis intervention techniques, harm reduction approaches, and community resources.
This position requires a diploma in a related human/social service field, and a minimum of one year recent related experience. Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of social work standards and methods.
