Housing and Shelter Support Worker

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Housing and Shelter Support Worker. In this role, you will play a critical part in providing support and guidance to individuals experiencing housing instability.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with residents, shelter users, and community contacts to develop and implement personalized support plans. This may involve providing one-on-one counseling, facilitating group sessions, and connecting individuals with local resources and services.

As a Housing and Shelter Support Worker, you will also be responsible for maintaining a safe and welcoming environment, responding to medical emergencies, and participating in cross-agency working groups. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential in this role, as is the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Basic computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Training in or knowledge of non-violent crisis intervention techniques and harm reduction approach
  • Knowledge of services available to shelter users and residents
  • Knowledgeable of community resources
  • Ability to work independently and show initiative and creativity
  • Ability to deal in a positive collaborative fashion with residents, shelter users and community contacts
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and coworkers both verbally and in writing
Benefits:

This position offers a competitive salary range of $31.56 to $33.49 per hour, with benefits including comprehensive health and dental coverage after completion of probationary period. Union membership is required.
