About the RoleThis role involves providing specialist advice and operational support relating to employment law, workplace health and safety, and employee relations across Australia, New Zealand, and RSA. This includes coaching people and culture team members in managing employee relations matters, conducting investigations, and managing complex issues with a focus on minimizing reliance on external legal advice.
- Represent the organization's interests in disciplinary, performance, and dispute resolution including advocacy in external tribunals
- Collaborate with the P&C team to develop and deliver training to leaders ensuring they have the knowledge, tools, and skills to proactively manage employment law risks and maximize opportunities to grow their people
- Refine and maintain a cohesive suite of policies that promote an inclusive and productive work environment and ensure compliance with regulatory change
- Lead the ongoing review and management of employment agreements, terms, and conditions
- Lead negotiations for collective agreements (NZ) and engage with unions as required
- Collaborate with payroll, operations, and remuneration to ensure wage compliance
- Lead project work through researching, designing, implementing, and delivering ER initiatives
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Tertiary qualification in Employment Law/Human Resources/related field or equivalent experience
- Proven experience in advising on individual people matters including complex misconduct investigations and grievances
- Proactive approach with the ability to provide practical and pragmatic solutions to support business needs and deliver optimal outcomes
- Excellent relationship and stakeholder management skills and ability to relate to people at all levels of the organization along with the ability to influence and negotiate
- Demonstrated skills using reporting to analyze trends and insights
- Experience in coaching, mentoring, and leading others
