Michael Page is dedicated to fostering growth and resilience in infrastructure projects, particularly in the water sector.
The Senior Project Engineer - Major Projects will be responsible for:
- Providing expert engineering insights for the execution of significant capital initiatives, as instructed by the Executive Manager.
- Leading teams in the delivery of capital works within the Major Projects portfolio.
- Conducting comprehensive evaluations of tender submissions for capital works and generating detailed reports for senior management and Council review.
- Supporting the Executive Manager Major Projects in overseeing and guiding assigned teams and work programs.
- Optimizing team workload to enhance efficiency and identify Value for Money opportunities.
- Offering professional guidance to Council Officers, Stakeholders, and Councillors regarding ongoing and prospective projects.
- Overseeing the delivery, project management, and contract management of major capital works projects executed by both internal and external teams.
- Operating with minimal supervision from the Executive Manager Major Projects to lead and direct project teams while supervising staff and contractors.
- Providing regular updates on project spending and timelines, including details on progress claims, variations, and expenditure trends.
- Facilitating consultations and negotiations with internal and external entities, including public utility authorities.
- Applying a solid technical understanding of relevant Australian Standards, Statutory Approval Legislation, and Contract Law.
The ideal candidate for the Senior Project Engineer - Major Projects will possess:
- A Bachelor of Engineering or a related Engineering qualification.
- Extensive experience in civil engineering, project management, and contract management within a medium to large multi-disciplinary organization.
- A proven track record in managing water or water-related projects.
- The ability to lead multi-disciplinary project teams to meet project and corporate goals.
- A solid understanding of relevant Standards and Legislation.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies, such as PMBOK, PRINCE2, and other industry standards.
- Membership in The Institution of Engineers Australia or a comparable industry organization.
- Eligibility for Professional Engineer registration with the Board of Professional Engineers of Queensland.
