About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Community Engagement Coordinator to join our team at Mission Australia. As a key member of our Psychosocial Support Program, you will play a vital role in building strong relationships with clients, their support networks, and services to ensure coordinated support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, their support networks, and services to ensure coordinated support.
  • Record client information in our database.
  • Integrate client and family views into service planning and delivery.
  • Facilitate individual and group mental health and wellbeing programs with Peer Advocates.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate workshop materials.
  • Design and coordinate events and workshops to promote mental health literacy, reduce stigma, and encourage early help-seeking.
  • Collaborate with the Program Manager, Peer Advocates, and the team to maintain partnerships with key stakeholders and service providers.
  • Develop an annual community engagement and health promotion calendar.
  • Support clients to improve their networks and community supports.
  • Attend regional meetings to ensure program integration and consistency.
  • Organize community engagement activities within a budget.
  • Complete client and group activity reports.
  • Ensure quality assurance and timely completion of administrative tasks.
Requirements for Success
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience in mental health recovery-oriented services.
  • Extensive previous experience in Community Development/Project Management.
  • Exceptional planning and development expertise.
  • Pre-existing community connections and/or knowledge on how to source networking connections within the community.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and evaluate community awareness programs.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong administrative skills and proficiency with technology, including databases and mobile devices.
  • Superior time management abilities.
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Proven experience in coordinating and facilitating community programs, events, and activities.
  • Expertise in utilizing social media as an effective communication tool.
  • Profound understanding of the challenges faced by individuals from diverse backgrounds, including culturally and linguistically diverse young people, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, and LGBTIQIA+ communities.
