Aboriginal Liaison Officer Role Overview

The Central Australian Aboriginal Congress seeks a skilled and dedicated professional to fill the position of Aboriginal Liaison Officer. This role is a fantastic opportunity for individuals passionate about delivering culturally safe and responsive care.

About the Position

This key role involves working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide outreach support, communication, and cultural brokerage to Aboriginal clients and clinical practitioners. The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating holistic care and treatment that respects the unique needs and perspectives of Aboriginal people.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with Aboriginal clients and community stakeholders.
  • Provide targeted support and advocacy to ensure culturally sensitive care and service delivery.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement tailored care plans that respect Aboriginal health and wellbeing priorities.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance knowledge and skills in Aboriginal health and cultural safety.
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A degree in a relevant field such as health science, social work, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience working in Aboriginal health or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of Aboriginal culture, history, and contemporary issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
Salary and Benefits

We offer a highly competitive salary package that includes:

  • Base salary: $66,963 - $72,559 per annum.
  • Total effective package: $85,053 - $91,349 per annum (including base salary, district allowance, superannuation, leave loading, and estimated tax saving from salary packaging options).
  • Six weeks' annual leave.
