A life-changing opportunity awaits for a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our HOPE team as a Lived and Living Experience Carer Peer Worker. In this pivotal role, you will play a crucial part in promoting the wellbeing of individuals and their families by providing one-to-one peer support.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the clinical team to deliver holistic care that empowers carers to navigate the challenges of mental health and substance use. Your personal lived experience and exceptional communication skills will enable you to provide empathetic and informed support, fostering hope and recovery for those who need it most.
Key Responsibilities:- Providing one-to-one peer support to carers using your personal lived experience
- Working collaboratively with the clinical team to promote client wellbeing
- Supporting carers to discover their own solutions and empowering them to take ownership of their journey
- Facilitating referrals to internal and external services, family and carer support groups, and education

Requirements:- Lived and/or living experience of supporting a loved one navigating the Victorian public mental health system due to emotional dysregulation, mental health, and/or AoD challenges
- Sound understanding of mental health peer support principles and ability to use peer support to provide hope and recovery
- Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work, Intentional Peer Support Training, or equivalent, or willingness to obtain same
- Understanding of Area Mental Health Service and principles and practices of DHHS Recovery-Oriented Practice in Mental Health
- Current Victorian Driver's License and ability to drive a work vehicle
