The Patient Liaison Officer plays a vital role in maximising patient fee revenue through accommodation and clinical billing processes.
They provide training, support, and policy adherence across sites to enhance staff capability, ensuring compliance with NSW Health policies and addressing patient complaints professionally.
This includes:
- Maximising patient revenue through billing and classification processes
- Providing training and support to staff to enhance revenue management

- Addressing patient financial enquiries and managing complaints professionally
The position is responsible for maximising patient fee revenue through effective billing and classification processes. This requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify opportunities for improvement and implement solutions that drive revenue growth.
The Patient Liaison Officer works closely with the Patient Liaison Team to develop and implement strategies to improve revenue management. They provide training and support to staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively manage patient revenue.
In addition to their technical expertise, the Patient Liaison Officer must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders. They must be able to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner and build strong relationships with others.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of NSW Health policies and procedures and be able to interpret and apply them effectively. They will also have experience working in a customer service environment and be able to provide high-level analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve complex issues.
The Patient Liaison Officer is an important member of the Patient Liaison Team and plays a key role in ensuring the team's goals are met. They must be able to work autonomously as well as being a member of a team and demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering high-quality results.
Required Skills and QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you will require:
- Demonstrated experience in a customer service environment with relationship and marketing skills
- Demonstrated high-level analytical and problem-solving skills and capacity to provide and develop sound solutions to complex issues
- Ability to work autonomously as well as being a member of a team
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and conflict resolution skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and understanding of NSW Health information systems for billing and patient administration
- Demonstrated organisational skills with the ability to complete tasks within defined timeframes
