Chief Electricity Network Planner

We are seeking a skilled Chief Electricity Network Planner to join our team at AusNet Services.
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to lead the planning of electricity transmission networks, working closely with stakeholders to ensure efficient and reliable energy supply. As a key member of our Network Strategy & Planning team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our grid infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, power systems, and network planning, with extensive experience in utilities or a similar industry. You should possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and develop innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the development of network plans and proposals for transmission and sub-transmission networks
- Collaborate with stakeholders to assess network capabilities, identify emerging limitations, and initiate actions to address them
- Develop strategies to maximize network utilization, including increasing load and generation connections
- Monitor compliance with 66kV generator regulations and initiate necessary actions
- Provide mentoring and coaching to junior engineers within the team
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Degree in electrical engineering, power systems engineering, or equivalent
- Advanced technical knowledge and robust experience in electricity network planning
- Strong understanding of Chapter 5 and Chapter 5A of the National Electricity Rules (NER)
- Expertise in using electricity network analysis tools, such as PSSE, PSCAD, PowerFactory, and Sincal
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
AusNet Services offers a competitive salary of $140,000 - $160,000 per annum, depending on experience. You will also enjoy a hybrid work arrangement, flexible hours, and access to a range of employee benefits, including purchased leave, income protection insurance, and corporate discounts.
