AusNet Services is seeking an experienced Lead Connections Planning Engineer to join their Network Strategy & Planning team in Southbank. This hybrid role will involve proactively planning the electricity sub-transmission network to accommodate the rapidly growing pipeline of embedded generators, storage, and large load connections.

The successful candidate will lead network planning activities associated with the development of D-REZs (Distribution Renewable Energy Zones) to accommodate embedded generators, storage, and large loads in AusNet's sub-transmission network. They will also undertake comprehensive network planning processes to assess network capabilities, identify emerging limitations, and initiate actions to address them.

This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:

  • Developing strategies to maximise the utilisation of the sub-transmission network, such as increasing load and generation connections.
  • Ongoing monitoring of 66kV generator (>1.5MW) compliance and initiating necessary action to address non-compliances.
  • Producing network investment plans and proposals for the regulated transmission and sub-transmission networks.
  • Mentoring and coaching other engineers within the team.

To be successful in this role, you will require a degree in electrical engineering, power systems engineering or equivalent, with demonstrated years of experience in the energy industry, preferably with some in utilities. You will also need advanced technical knowledge and robust experience in electricity network planning, as well as strong knowledge and experience in end-to-end grid connection processes.
