Overview

AusNet Services Ltd is a leading player in the clean energy transition, providing essential energy to every Victorian family. We're seeking an experienced Senior Planning Engineer to join our team and contribute to the future planning of our transmission network.

About the Role

This role will see you working closely with our Network Development & Planning team, driving the planning of AusNet's transmission network. You'll provide specialised expertise to undertake comprehensive network planning, identify emerging issues and opportunities, and develop network solutions and contingency plans.

As a key member of our team, you'll engage in joint planning with AEMO, VicGrid, Distribution Businesses, and other market participants to deliver efficient outcomes for transmission network users in Victoria.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake comprehensive network planning to assess network capabilities, identifying emerging issues and opportunities, and developing network solutions and contingency plans
  • Engage in joint planning with AEMO, VicGrid, Distribution Businesses, and other market participants to deliver efficient outcomes for transmission network users in Victoria
  • Support the maintenance of the Transmission Asset Renewal Plan and update relevant Asset Management Strategy documents and processes
  • Prepare planning reports and support the Regulatory team to deliver a successful Transmission Revenue Reset (TRR) outcome
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in Network Planning or Power System Operation
  • Proficiency in using electricity network analysis tools or relevant software (such as PSS/E) and interpreting results
  • Strong understanding of the Victorian Transmission Network and Assets
  • Understanding and knowledge of contemporary electricity network planning, asset management practices, and overarching markets
  • Demonstrated experience in managing several projects simultaneously from conception to implementation and realisation of program objectives
  • Sound knowledge of NER, the energy markets, and relevant laws, regulations, rules, licences, and agreements

Location

This role is based in Southbank, Melbourne, and is part of the Transmission - Network Development & Planning team within the Transmission line of business.

Salary Range

The estimated salary range for this role is between $150,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience.
