Senior Academic Position in Surgical Education and Research

This is a senior academic position that will provide leadership and foster excellence in innovative teaching, research, and engagement within the discipline of surgery.

The role will be based at the Randwick Clinical Campus of the School of Clinical Medicine and work collaboratively across all SoCM clinical campuses and with the South-Eastern Sydney Local Health District.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive high-quality surgical education and lead original and impactful research.
  • Contribute to curriculum design and delivery in alignment with UNSW's academic standards.
  • Mentor staff and students, supervise Higher Degree Research (HDR) candidates, and contribute to governance through active participation in committees and leadership groups.

The successful candidate will have a strong track record of academic leadership, research, and teaching experience, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Requirements:
  • Medical qualification registrable in New South Wales, specialist training in a surgical discipline, and fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons or equivalent.
  • A higher degree in a relevant discipline area, an outstanding research record, and significant external research funding and publications in top-tier peer-reviewed journals.
  • A record of leadership and achievement in a managerial role in a university or similar professional or clinical setting.
