Senior Program Officer Role

We are seeking two Senior Program Officers to play a critical role within our Koori Justice Unit. The successful candidates will work closely with community partners to design, develop and coordinate a new grants program that supports Aboriginal Victorians on remand and bail.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Aboriginal community, including its society and culture, as well as the issues impacting it. They must also be able to communicate sensitively and work effectively with the Victorian Aboriginal community.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Working alongside stakeholders, our Aboriginal Policy and Reform Unit, and Evidence and Insights Unit to analyse the impact of legislative changes to Bail laws on Aboriginal communities, informing the design of the grants program.
  • Designing, developing and implementing a new grants program that addresses risks associated with legislative changes to Aboriginal Victorians on remand and bail, ensuring objectives, timelines and outcomes are achieved in alignment with strategic priorities and community needs.
  • Embedding self-determination and cultural safety principles throughout the grant program's design and implementation, ensuring community voice and related governance structures are central to decision-making.
