Job Title:

Compliance Specialist

Overview:

This role offers an exciting opportunity to grow professionally in a regulated compliance environment across various sectors. You will have the chance to develop and support the enterprise-wide compliance calendar, acting as a key liaison between different teams.

Responsibilities:

  1. Support multiple departments with their compliance inquiries
  2. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements and international standards
  3. Update compliance management plans, including regulatory changes, policies, procedures, training, and monitoring
  4. Work closely with the Compliance Assurance Officer to monitor control assurance testing plans
  5. Compile compliance reports and updates for stakeholders
  6. Conduct compliance assessments and review risk obligations
  7. Assess risks where new processes are introduced or arise within the organization
  8. Review existing risk assessments periodically
  9. Provide ongoing assistance in delivering compliance and risk frameworks
  10. Manage risk incidents and remediation processes
  11. Engage with senior leaders and business units to understand drivers, concerns, and expansion plans, offering support to manage risk
  12. Maintain multiple policies and registers
  13. Review key policies and procedures as needed, supporting staff members in drafting policies and procedures
  14. Prepare and lodge regulatory filings
  15. Interact with internal and external stakeholders, participating in business meetings as required
  16. Offer support to team members with complex issues, sharing best practices
  17. Respond to ad-hoc queries and assist with project work as needed

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in financial services and compliance, regulatory, or another control function
  • Experience interacting directly with regulators is highly valued
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, such as Law, Commerce, or Accounting
  • Understanding of the financial services industry in the USA, Australia, and Canada, including knowledge of regulators and current/proposed requirements
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with other business areas
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise
