Forensic Biology Team Lead Role

The role of a Forensic Biology Team Lead is to oversee the efficient processing of casework, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards. The successful candidate will manage resources, foster a positive and innovative team culture, and ensure compliance with relevant accreditation standards.

As a key member of the Forensic Science Queensland (FSQ) team, you will contribute to strategic planning, policy development, and the continuous improvement of forensic biology practices. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to enhance service delivery and support FSQ's strategic objectives.

  • Lead and Manage a High-Performing Team: Ensure efficient case processing and adherence to quality standards.
  • Oversee Resource Management: Align resource allocation with operational plans and forecasts.
  • Ensure Compliance: Maintain NATA/ISO accreditation and other legislative requirements.
  • Foster a Positive Organisational Culture: Develop staff through mentoring, performance management, and ongoing learning opportunities.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Proven experience in leading forensic biology teams: Manage complex casework and develop strategies for efficient processing.
  • Expertise in forensic biology techniques: Analyze materials, interpret results statistically, and produce high-quality reports.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills: Engage diverse audiences and stakeholders effectively.
  • Knowledge of NATA/ISO accreditation standards: Ensure compliance with industry regulations.

Required Education and Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree or higher in Forensic Science, Biology, Applied Science, or a related field is required. Postgraduate qualifications or recent publications in peer-reviewed forensic science journals would be highly regarded.
