Overview

Allygroup is seeking senior legal, policy, or information governance professionals for roles within federal government client teams. The opportunities include employment law, litigation and dispute resolution, privacy/FOI, information law, and remuneration roles. Roles vary by contract length, location (Australia-wide for some positions), and security clearance requirements. The contracts may be for initial terms ranging from six months to twelve months with extensions possible. Key responsibilities

- Policy Development: Draft amendments to internal policies relating to conflicts of interest and the acceptance of gifts, benefits, and hospitality; ensure alignment with best practice and governance outcomes.

- Stakeholder Coordination: Lead cross-divisional groups to facilitate policy development and secure endorsement from policy owners.

- Assurance Framework Design: Design assurance frameworks with finance and governance teams to evaluate compliance with conflict of interest requirements and assess effectiveness for employees and contractors.

- Governance and Reporting: Define objectives, assurance activities, timelines, responsibilities, and governance/ reporting mechanisms.

- Briefing Preparation: Create briefing materials to support endorsement and implementation of policy updates and the assurance framework.

- Other responsibilities as described in the role postings, including litigation, FOI, privacy, and remuneration duties across various government departments and teams as applicable to the specific role.

About you / Qualifications

- Minimum experience requirements vary by role (examples include 2+ years post-admission for some litigation roles; 3–5 years for senior associate level information and employment law roles; 6+ years for senior positions in employment or public law).

- Strong experience in litigation and dispute resolution, privacy/FOI, FOI decisions, or employment law as applicable to the role.

- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and communicate clearly with stakeholders in government or regulatory environments.

- Security clearance requirements vary; some roles require baseline or NV1 clearance, Australian citizenship, and willingness to obtain clearance where needed.
