Overview

Grounds and Maintenance | Operational Staff

- We are seeking a knowledgeable and crafty CabinetMaker

- Assist the School with maintaining buildings from 1 –90 years old

- 40 hours a week, with a rostered day off once a month

About the Role

The Cabinet Maker plays a key role in the construction,assembly, and installation of cabinetry and related componentsthroughout the entire Canberra Grammar School (CGS) campus. Thisposition is integral to ensuring that high-quality, custom-builtfurniture and fittings are delivered in a timely, efficient, andprofessional manner to meet the needs of a diverse range oflearning and operational environments across the school.

Working as part of the Maintenance team, the Cabinet Maker willcontribute to a variety of projects, ranging from the fabricationof bespoke furniture pieces to the repair, refurbishment, andreplacement of existing cabinetry. The role demands precision,craftsmanship, and a strong commitment to safety and service.

In addition to core cabinet making responsibilities, the rolealso supports broader maintenance operations to help ensure the CGScampus is consistently well-presented, functional, physicallysecure, and compliant with relevant health, safety, and buildingregulations. This includes contributing to the upkeep of schoolgrounds, assisting with general maintenance tasks, and workingcollaboratively with other team members to maintain a safe andwelcoming environment for all members of the CGScommunity—students, staff, and visitors alike.

About You

You are dedicated, passionate and possess the following:

- Experience in carpentry, joinery and/or cabinet making isdesirable

- Physically fit and able to perform manual handling

- Must be able to work at heights when required

- Ability to work as part of a team and individually

- Clear communication skills and a courteous professionalmanner

- Previous maintenance and management experience of olderbuildings desirable

- Carpentry or cabinet maker qualification andexperience

- Excellent written English and effective interpersonalcommunication skills

- A valid Divers Licence

- A valid White Card

- First Aid training (or willingness to obtain this)

All team members at CGS are required to have:

- A valid ACT Working with Vulnerable People Card

- A current National Police Check

- Full working rights within Australia.
