Join our national HR team to lead early careers programs and deliver national HR projects driving strategic people outcomes.
About Us
Mills Oakley is a leading national law firm with a proud history spanning over 160 years. In that time, we’ve grown into a Top 10 Australian law firm by size while remaining true to our shared vision of exceptional client service with a friendly and collaborative ethos. Mutual trust and respect are at the heart of everything we do.
The Role
As part of our continued national growth, we are pleased to offer a newly created opportunity for a proactive, highly organised, and people-focused HR Projects Advisor to join our national HR team based in Melbourne. In this role, you will take the lead on the national coordination and delivery of our Early Careers Program, while also driving a diverse portfolio of HR initiatives and projects across the firm.
You will play a key role in ensuring the effective execution of national HR programs, leveraging project management skills, stakeholder engagement, and reporting to support our strategic people objectives.
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinating key project timelines, deliverables, and resources across multiple HR initiatives, ensuring effective planning, tracking, and communication throughout;
- Leading the delivery of Early Careers Programs nationally in collaboration with our generalist team, including Graduate and Seasonal Clerkship Programs – managing all stages from attraction and recruitment through to rotations and permanent placements;
- Building and maintaining strong partnerships with universities, student organisations, and professional associations to attract top early talent;
- Collaborating with the Learning & Development team to deliver engaging induction programs and seamless onboarding and training experiences;
- Championing Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) programs through thoughtful design and implementation;
- Supporting core HR operations and reporting cycles including WGEA and Mercer submissions and employee engagement surveys;
- Managing and maintaining accurate reporting and analysis using Excel and other HR systems, with a focus on continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making.
This role is open to full-time and part-time candidates.
Who We Are Looking For
You’ll be a dynamic HR professional with experience in generalist HR, early careers, coordination, or project-based HR work. You’re someone who thrives in a professional environment, is team orientated, and is comfortable managing multiple priorities at once. Your strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to see the bigger picture will set you apart.
- Strong project coordination skills, with a proactive and solutions-focused mindset;
- A confident and highly professional communication style, both written and verbal;
- Experience working across stakeholder groups at a variety of levels;
- High-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel; and
- A collaborative and authentic approach, aligned to our firm values and committed to delivering with impact.
What We Offer
We take a collaborative approach to your learning and development, giving you the support and opportunities needed to thrive in your role and develop your career. We’re committed to your wellbeing and offer a wide range of employee benefits, including:
- The opportunity to be part of our success story and make a meaningful contribution;
- Work alongside a team of great people and accelerate your development by gaining valuable hands-on experience in HR projects and initiatives;
- Flexible working arrangements;
- Dress for your day;
- Discounted health insurance;
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP);
- Gym and fitness discounts across Australia;
- Competitive referral bonus; and
- A range of other perks and employee offerings.
