Role

The role will usually undertake tasks that impact on the whole school. The role seeks to gain cooperation of other staff members or members of the school community to achieve specific objectives, such as in school administration, finance or human resources.

Direction on targets and goals is provided but the position will have some degree of latitude in determining how they are achieved. This latitude will generally be limited by standard procedures and school policy.Deviation from standard procedures and school policy will require guidance and direction from senior management.

Assistance with the management of staff to achieve expected outcomes is a key responsibility.Staff management issues will be resolved with minimal reference to senior management, although guidance will be required in more complex cases.Senior management will be provided with timely reports and advice in matters relating to the school finance, human resources or school administration.

Responsibilities

Finance:

Assist the Business Manager to:

- Develop, monitor and manage the school's operational budget in collaboration with leadership.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable and procurement processes.
- Prepare financial reports, agenda and minutes for school council.
- Ensure compliance with DET funding requirements and reporting.
- Mange the School Resource Package (SRP) and funding allocations.
- Coordinate with auditors for financial and other required audits.
- Implement financial policies to safeguard school resources.

Facilities

Assist the Business Manager to:

- Oversee maintenance, repairs and operations of school buildings and grounds.
- Coordinate scheduled maintenance, repairs and emergency responses.
- Oversee contracts with maintenance service providers.
- Ensure compliance with education department regulations related to facilities.
- Plan and coordinate infrastructure upgrades, renovations and new construction projects.
- Monitor facility-related expenditures and manage the school's Asset Information Management System (AIMS).
- Ensure that school grounds are safe, accessible and conducive to learning.

Occupational Health and Safety (OHS):

- Develop and implement OHS policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits and assist with the planning of emergency drills.
- Provide training and resources to staff, students, and contractors on OHS practices.
- Investigate workplace incidents and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant workplace health and safety legislation and education department standards.
- Promote a culture of health, safety and wellbeing amongst staff and students.
