The Deputy Director General Housing Policy and Development is accountable for the planning, delivery, maintenance and management of the Government’s Residential Building Program. This includes delivering housing priorities for the Government to ensure growing and maintaining the supply of social and affordable housing and improving how these critical assets are procured and managed. The role provides leadership, direction and management of strategic housing and asset management strategy, including complex negotiations across all jurisdictions and sectors on the development of planning, policy, funding and programs; monitor and report on performance to optimise the value of the asset portfolio and to protect the Department’s investment, financial interests and reputation. This role manages more than 500 staff and is responsible for leading the portfolio, planning, development and asset management of more than 50,000 land and built-form assets across Western Australia with a current Asset Investment Program of more than $750 million per annum. The Deputy Director General is part of the Department’s Executive Leadership Group and works closely with Ministers, including the Minister for Housing, to deliver Ministerial and Government housing priorities. The leadership context for this role is Executive Leader. This context is about shaping complex initiatives covering multiple business areas as well as having a key responsibility in corporate governance. To be successful for the role, you will need to demonstrate the expected behaviours and mindsets in this context. Key Responsibilities Lead the portfolio, planning, development and asset management of social and affordable housing and related assets; develop and implement planning, policy, funding and programs; monitor performance and protect the Department’s financial interests and reputation. Provide leadership, direction and management of strategic housing and asset management strategy across jurisdictions and sectors; negotiate complex arrangements to maximise asset value and program outcomes. Manage a large workforce (over 500 staff) and oversee more than 50,000 land and built-form assets with an asset investment program exceeding $750 million per year.
