The Opportunity

Project Officer (50(d)) Responsibilities

- Coordinate and contribute to a range of activities in support of Projects leading to improved outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities.

- Undertake research and analysis to support project deliverables aligned with improving culturally responsive practice.

- Contribute to the development and implementation of culturally informed and appropriate support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees.

- Provide support to the Aboriginal Regional Coordinator, including attending cultural meetings with stakeholders, community and Aboriginal Elders.

Senior Aboriginal Project Officer (50(d)) Responsibilities

- Contribute to the design, development, implementation, analysis and evaluation of policies and practices, undertake complex research and analysis, and provide strategic policy advice to assist shaping the Department’s strategic direction and align with Government priorities related to Aboriginal children and their families.

- Provide high-level advice to the District and Leadership Team on issues relating to Aboriginal services that is proactive, solution-focused and responsive to Aboriginal families.

- Develop and implement cultural learning strategies that include mentoring, coaching, training and relationship building with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and the community.

- Implement quality assurance mechanisms that support monitoring and continuous improvement of services to Aboriginal children and their families.

Principal Consultant Aboriginal Policy (50(d)) Responsibilities

- Consult on complex matters and provide advice to senior management on the provision of services and supports to Aboriginal communities and individuals that meet the principles of equity and access, cultural safety and security, accountability, Aboriginal community control and engagement, and partnership.

- Lead the development and implementation of policies and strategies to enable the provision of culturally responsive supports and services for Aboriginal children, families and communities.

- Monitor and consult on Departmental, state and Commonwealth policies, frameworks and emerging issues for Aboriginal people, and make recommendations for action to the senior management group.

- Contribute to the development and implementation of Directorate teams and activities as they relate to improving outcomes for Aboriginal children, families and communities.

- Develop and maintain linkages with internal and key external stakeholders.
