**About the Role**

The Media Lead and Spokesperson is actively monitoring the transport network, proactively selecting appropriate mediums to use to communicate real-time information and behaviour change requirements to promote efficient network operations.

The role will also act as one of the primary spokespeople for DTP in radio and television settings, particularly in response to developing stories and service disruptions.

**Position Accountabilities**
The role will be responsible for executing media relations projects and strategies, aligning with key business areas and portfolio-defined projects. Provide expert media and communication counsel to senior leaders, guiding media interactions, interviews, and messaging. Act as DTP's representative in broadcast media, ensuring consistent and clear messaging, especially in critical situations. Identify proactive media prospects and address emerging reputational issues, fostering strong media relationships as well as organise top-notch media events, manage disruption communications across channels, and produce precise media materials within tight deadlines. Support Emergency Management communications, including scenario training and plan updates.
- Form part of a 24-hour on-call roster to ensure media enquiries are addressed in an effective and timely manner.

**Key Selection Criteria**
DTP is seeking a skilled spokesperson with a proven track record in handling sensitive media matters. Must possess strong media insights and connections to advance DTP's goals with key agencies. Expertise in communication, issue handling, media management, and stakeholder relations is essential, along with strategy development and execution capabilities. Exceptional writing skills for diverse communication materials are required as well as comprehensive understanding of customer service/operations and adept stakeholder engagement to drive favorable outcomes for DTP and the community.

**Qualifications and Experience**

**Mandatory**
- An appropriate tertiary qualification or equivalent experience as a spokesperson or communications or similar discipline.
