**About the company**:
A local government authority based in the southeast are looking for someone to join their people and culture department as a Business Partner. You will be reporting directly to the Manager of People and Culture. The primary purpose of this position is to partner with various departments across the Council to deliver strategic and operational HR advice. This position is initially a 3-month contract and could lead to longer-term opportunities. The role is full-time, Monday - Friday, and they operate on a hybrid model.
**Your key responsibilities include**:
- Provide specialist HR advice to management and staff including recruitment, on-boarding, probation, employment changes, performance management, organisational change, and employee departures.
- Provide advice on the interpretation of Council’s Enterprise Agreement, relevant legislation, policies and procedures, and terms and conditions of employment.
- Review position descriptions and classifications of positions to ensure that they are assessed against the established classification criteria.
- Proactively meet with and provide employment related reports and information to Managers and Coordinators that contribute to meeting business requirements and future resource planning.
- Support the implementation of organisational change processes, in line with Enterprise Agreement.
- Support with investigations into workplace issues, including performance, behavioral and disciplinary matters
- Support in the review and development of HR policies and procedures.
- Ensure that new starters and relevant information on the People and Culture Information System (CHRIS21) is up to date, and managed and maintained accurately.
**You will have the following**:
- A relevant qualification in human resources or a related discipline, or substantial experience as a human resource practitioner.
- Demonstrated ER/IR experience, particularly in performance management.
- Experience in a large, complex, fast paced organisation is desirable.
- Sound knowledge of the FairWork Act and other employment legislation.
- A thorough understanding of, and experience in contemporary HR practices.
