**About the role**
The Energy Climate Change and Sustainability group (ECCS) is seeking a seasoned **Executive Officer **to deliver a variety of high-level executive, secretariat, and project management services to the Advising Executive Director. This role involves supporting strategic initiatives, managing communications, and overseeing the implementation of both strategic and operational objectives.
The Advising Executive Director provides strategic policy advice to the Minister and Executive about energy and climate change issues, and leads high profile cross divisional projects. The successful Executive Officer will play an active role in forming strategic advice and managing projects to help transition to a clean, affordable and reliable energy system.
On a day -to-day basis, the role involves:
- Coordinating incoming requests from the Minister, Secretary and Deputy Secretary including identifying the most appropriate staff from across the ECCS Group to respond, tracking progress against deadlines and reviewing responses for consistency with the Department’s style guide.
- Collating written material to support the Executive Director in parliamentary, ministerial and steering committee meetings including speaking points, status reports, and extracts of program data.
- Managing a team of three staff including developing professional development plans, considering leave requests, reviewing flex sheets.
- Informing the Advising Executive Director about emerging issues with delivery of the ECCS Group’s priorities.
- Managing internal policy projects and develop procedures including reforms the ECCS Group’s ways of working.
**About You**
To be successful in the role you will have experience:
- Coordinating tasks across different areas of an organisation
- Using Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Managing people and project teams.
- Developing energy and / or climate change public policy or government programs
- Supporting or managing an executive’s office.
