**About the team**:
Questacon - The National Science and Technology Centre is a division of the Australian Government Department of Industry, Science and Resources (DISR).

Questacon’s vision is a better future for all Australians through engagement with science, technology and innovation. This position supports that vision by optimising safe and healthy work practices and by managing operational activities which comply with the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act 2011. A strong WHS culture is paramount in enabling Questacon to deliver a range of activities to visitors locally, nationally and internationally.

The Questacon WHS Coordinator will contribute to productive and collaborative working relationships to achieve individual, team and division results. They will demonstrate evidence of being adaptable and resilient to changing circumstances, multiple priorities and demands while managing a diverse and complex work environment.
- The ability to develop and implement a WHS management system including managing risk and delivering continuous improvement.
- The ability to manage complex and sensitive projects from a WHS perspective.
- An ability to communicate clearly, concisely and with confidence, with evidence of working with diverse stakeholders.

**What you will do**:
The Questacon WHS Coordinator under the guidance of the Questacon WHS Advisor will be responsible for:

- Research, analysis and reporting on a range of information to support strategic development and operational activities relating to WHS and in accordance with the WHS audit recommendations.
- Managing relevant WHS policy development and implementation in support of new and ongoing initiatives or changes to legislation and operational requirements.
- Representing Questacon on WHS committees and networks, both internally and externally.
- Implementation and maintenance of an effective WHS management system and Action Plan in accordance with agreed timeframes and ensuring compliance with relevant Acts, Codes and Regulations and Questacon policies and procedures.
- Championing and supporting behavioural health and safety change management to enhance and sustain Questacon’s outstanding health and safety culture and to minimise our safety risk profile.
- Providing support and advice to Questacon workers on all aspects of WHS.
- Development and delivering of Questacon WHS training as required.

You are employed as a member of the Australian Public Service as an employee of the Questacon Division of the Department of Industry Science and Resources. The role is based at Questacon’s National Science and Technology Centre in Parkes.

Your role is full time, ongoing and you will work within the scope of the Department’s Enterprise Agreement and other policies. Outside of the usual pattern or work, this role may require some after-hours or weekend work, and may involve some interstate and international travel as required.
